Hoopfest 2017 will be held on May 13, 2017 at Calabasas High School. Like previous years, our organization aims to provide a fun-filled community event while raising money and awareness for ALS.
Hoopfest consists of 5 on 5 basketball games, a "Knockout" shooting contest, a silent auction, raffles throughout the day, a snack shack, lunch catered by StoneFire Grill, outdoor activities such as corn hole and mini basketball, a kiddy corner, as well as a DJ playing music to keep the energy going. The basketball games are played with a 25 minute running clock and are refereed by local high school referees. The skill level ranges anywhere from beginner to highly competitive.
The cost to play at Hoopfest is $60 per player ($40 for students) if paying online. This cost includes the entrance fee, one round of a "Knockout" shooting contest, a commerative t-shirt, a raffle ticket and lunch provided by StoneFire Grill. The first 25 registrants will receive a commemorative Hoopfest drawstring bag.
Throughout the years Hoopfest has raised over $500,000 for ALS research and has brought awareness to thousands of people. It has even caught the attention of celebrities who have attended previous year’s events such as Bret Saberhagen, the cast of the movie “Glory Road”, Michaela Pereira from KTLA Morning News, director Jake Hoffman, musician Cisco Adler, actress Mischa Barton, as well as Evan and Van from TMZ. The event is also MC’d by KOST 103.5 radio show host Mark Wallengren.
